What Is a Second Line?
Born in New Orleans, a second line parade follows the “first line” (the honored guests — that’s you) with a brass band and a crowd that dances behind it. Today it’s the South’s favorite way to make an entrance, kick off a reception, lead guests from ceremony to party, or close the night with a moment nobody forgets.

The Phat Katz Brass Band is a 6-piece southern brass band — 4 brass players and 2 percussionists — that performs second lines and high-energy brass sets for:
- Wedding grand entrances, ceremony exits & reception kick-offs
- Corporate parades, grand openings & holiday parties
- Mardi Gras celebrations
- Festival and market parades (including Ponce City Market’s annual holiday parade)

Second line performances from $1,100/hour.
Travel is included within 50 miles of Atlanta; events beyond that are billed at $1.25/mile. Every booking includes a pre-event coordination call so the route, timing, and surprise moments land exactly right.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long is a typical second line?
Most run 30–60 minutes — a grand entrance, a guest procession, or a full parade set. Performances are booked by the hour, and longer sets are available.
Can the band play our song?
Yes — the band takes requests within the brass band tradition and will work your must-hear songs into the set where they fit.
Do you travel outside Atlanta?
Absolutely. Travel is included up to 50 miles outside Atlanta and billed at $1.25/mile beyond that. KLF acts perform across the Southeast and nationwide.
What do you need from the venue?
Very little — a brass band is built to move. An outdoor route or an indoor path wide enough for the band and your guests is all it takes. Power is only needed for amplified sets.
How do we lock our date?
A signed agreement and deposit lock your date. Dates are held for 7 days while paperwork is completed.
